Marks vs knowledge (micro blog)

Firstly, we need to understand that the above 2 are very different from one another.

If you think that you are earning knowledge in the process of getting marks then sorry. Knowledge that most have access to is not knowledge, it’s common sense.

Knowledge is something that you try to get yourself through mediums like the internet. It is something beyond your syllabus.

But then why have knowledge and earning marks come face to face in a battle (knowledge vs earning marks).

It is because the education system has become so competetive based on earning marks that knowledge has taken a back seat.

But then you’d say, marks get you a good college. What does knowledge get you?

Agree, marks get you a good college but then good knowledge can make you a fortune.

The right ratio of reading to writing (micro blog)

Reading is more of a necessity while writing helps you get clarity of thought.

Say you read a lot about Artificial Intelligence but then if I ask you to write an article on Artificial Intelligence, you’ll most probably not be able to do so. Writing about something requires a whole different level of understanding.

When you sit down to write something, you don’t directly start writing. First you go on the internet and read about it a bit. You start writing only once you think you have a fair understanding of the concept/topic.

Like even while writing these blogs, I first try and read an article or 2 before I start penning my thoughts down. This ensures you have a good time reading these blogs.

So reading is a necessity for everyone but if you want to write then you need to double the amount of reading.

So the right ratio of reading to writing in my opinion is 2:1

Read 2 words for each word you pen

Being underprivileged is a previlige (micro blog)

I so soo believe this. The things one does not have are the things one craves for. If you can’t buy that car because you belong to a middle class family gives you the kick to remove this limitation of money.

If one gets to experience a life full of limitations then their frustration to do away from these limitations makes them do amazing things.

Don’t confuse me for talking about the extremely underprivileged. I’m talking about that group which can fulfill their basic needs but anything beyond that makes them think a zillion times.

Being in the latter unprivileged group is a privilege. You get to know what is the real value of money. You get to know how not to spend money. You learn the art of frugality. You learn how to sustain on the bare minimum.

Above all this. You learn to thank god for everything you have. You learn to respect people irrespective of their financial status.

If you get to be a part of this group even once in your lifetime, then you will remain humble for the rest of your life.

It makes you a human that every other human respects, irrespective of the financial status.

Emoji vs writing (micro blog)

In my very personal opinion, emojis are useless. Emojis prevent words from coming out.

Or should I say we never knew how to use emojis to communicate effectively. We just kept using them without giving much thought. If it’s a joke then 😂 . If it made you smile then again 😂. If you don’t know what to say next then again 😂.

I am planning to start a petition on change.org to remove all emojis except 😂. It is very much evident that people don’t know how to use emojis.

But emojis in a way substitute words. Words have so much more meaning and most importantly we know how to use words, which is not the case with emojis.

I prefer words over those small icons. Words hit harder than any random emoji.

But here is one emoji that I think should exist forever

This emoji is for you

Should I sit or should I stand? (micro blog)

This is interesting.

So when I ask this question to myself, the answer is sit. It is coded into my subconscious head that I should sit if there’s a vacant seat.

But what should I really do? Should I only sit if I’m tired and leave the vacant seat for someone else or should I jump on it as soon as I see a vacant seat.

I do the latter because my subconscious head makes me do it. As soon as a seat gets vacant in a metro, I’ll jump onto it.

But if we look at science

It says that standing is healthier than sitting.

Most of the engineers face back problem because of sitting in front of a screen for long hours. I know this because have an engineer in my family (every family does).

So even science says that standing is better than sitting. You should sit only when you’re tired else leave it for someone else who needs it more.

To finish on a light note-

Sit if it’s a pot, stand if it’s for a cause.

Is government necessary? (micro blog)

Firstly, what is a government?

It is a centralised authority where minority of the power is concentrated.

Now, I used the the words-centralised and concentrated. These words make governments vulnerable.

The point in democracy which runs an entire nation is the parliament. If some country/terrorist organisation wants to paralyse a nation, it’s as simple as bombing the parliament.

I know it’s not easy to bomb the parliament (obviously the security is very tight) but isn’t government a single point which if attacked can put a nation in a state of emergency. The consequences of such an event can make country go through years of turmoil.

So now we know that having “central” government makes us more vulnerable. But then you ask, is there a good alternative where power won’t be centralised.

Yes, there is a technology coming up by the name of “Blockchain” which can help us decentralise almost every centralised institution. Blockchain can help us achieve the true meaning of democracy.

Although Blockchain as a technology is still in its early years. Still it manages to be a ray of hope of a better and decentralised governing system.

Go Google “what is Blockchain?” and read about it.

You’ll be fascinating by the potential this tech has.

It can change our life block by block

Present education system is killing us, literally! (micro blog)

What do you enjoy more?- Sitting on a chair for hours staring at a book or playing outdoors.

Obviously, your answer would be staring at a book for hours. Atleast this is what our educational authorities think.

According to them we get fun in waking up till late night to rote learn all that matters.

Hell no!

We don’t do it for fun. We do it because we have to. It’s a compulsion on us.

We would always prefer and an outdoor game over staring at a syllabus book. But only if you let us the time to do so.

Now, let’s talk some facts.

A teen needs atleast 1 hour of physical activity each day. Here in India, forget physical activity- we spend 2-3 hours a day in coaching classes.

The lack of this minimum required physical activity can hamper proper body and brain growth. But who cares, we just need to crack that 1 competetive exam and we’re done for life.

We have sayings like “Abhi mehnat krlo toh baad me araam kroge” (slog your arse off now so that you can rest your arse later). This saying may have been true 10 yrs back but not now because now everyone is working really hard.

When most most want a bite of a pie, the size of a bite gets small, so small that it won’t even do justice to the hard work you did to earn that pie.

We are not just putting in our hardwork. We are compromising our health for that seat in that college.

So please try and understand this-

Agree the pie is very big but the number of people who want a bite is wayyy bigger.

Don’t compromise your health for that bite.

Most of all don’t let that pie kill you.

What if it was possible to back in time? (micro blog)

I wish this was possible. I would have gone to the good old days when no one expected anything out of me, everyone pampered me for no reason whatsoever.

Life is difficult now, there are expectations all around. I want to come good on them all but then I fail in most of all.

When I was small I didn’t need to prove my worth, but now this is a competetive world. Even if I do something great, people will say it’s just my fate. But when I fall, it’s all my fault.

I want to love all. I don’t want to compete. I want everyone to win. But is this possible now, sadly no. I can’t love all, can’t be out of competetion, can’t make everyone win.

In present, I’m so selfish

I want to go to that past where none of these things bothered me.

The time when I could cry in front of everyone.

The time my family lingered around me all the time.

The time when I could pee on bed and sleep on it.

I want to go back to that carefree me.

Someone please take me there..

What’s more difficult- Asking for favours or saying no?

Asking for favours is really difficult. I feel so soo awkward while asking for any favour.

Whenever I’ve to ask for a favour, this is how it goes-

“Can you do me a favour?

It’s totally fine if you don’t do it

I know I’m being extremely greedy

But I’ll be grateful for life”

And the other person is like

“Ok but can I know what favour do you want. Do you want me to kill someone or what?”

So this is how awkward I get while asking for something.

But I’ve noticed that when I make the effort to ask for a favour, people are more than likely to help.

This is not always because they want to help. It is more often because saying no to a request is as difficult as asking for something.

Most help me, not because they want to but because they can’t say no on my face.

They think it would hurt me if they say no.

So ask for favours because people don’t like saying no.

Now, let me ask for a favour from you-

please rate this micro blog and let me know how did you like this blog.

Is criticism good or bad? (micro blog)

Good, um no bad, nonono good.

Ok let us go a bit deep to find the answer to this question.

Whenever we are faced with criticism, the thing that matters is how is it received.

How is it received depends on what opinion do we have of the person criticising us.

We look for 2 qualities in the person criticising:

1. Is he/she good enough to criticize?

2. Does he/she really want me to get better or is just here to spread negativity?

If the answer to both these questions is yes then it is good criticism and deserves to be paid heed.

If the answer to even one of these is no. Then it is best to do what you think is right.

So, criticism can be good or bad. It all depends who is criticising.

You need to judge for yourself which criticism is good and which is bad.

But one thing is for sure- criticism whether good or bad should be received with both arms.

This is the reason why I tell you to rate me bad on the days you don’t like my blog.

I’m grateful for your criticism.
