Do what you love..but what do I love (Micro-blog)

This is a question that confronts most of us when someone tells us “Do what you love”

What do I love? I love to sing but everyone else says I’m a terrible singer.

I love to play cricket but my friends play it better.

I love to sleep but my luck does it better.

So how can I do what I love.

Most importantly I can’t get paid for most of what I love. Not every hobby can be converted to a profession.

But one thing that you can do is- find things that you finds Interesting and people will even pay you for that. Like if you love writing then try and become a professional writer, or if you love ice creams- try and become a professional ice cream taster (yes that’s a profession).

I know it’s extremely hard to find something that you love and be paid for.

If you haven’t found this thing yet, then be on the look as when you’ll find it,it’ll be worth the wait.

Is our education under RTI (micro-blog)

Eversince the 12th results have been out, everyone I know wants to know how I fared. They ask as if it is their right to know my academic score.

Is my education an issue of public interest? I mean, how does my percentage impact your life. Or are you too interested in judging people on false metrics.

These are much elder and more experienced people who want to know how someone else’s child has scored.

Formal education is itself struggling to cope with the speed of development in technology/society and we want our kids to cope with this education.

I want to make it clear for once and for all-

My education is my education, none of your education.

It’s good to be addicted (micro-blog)

Firstly, we need to accept the fact that not all addictions are harmful. In my view addiction is something that makes you forget your worries and helps you be in the present.

Addiction is something that you go to again and again without much thinking. Your mind takes a backseat in all addictions.

I’m not talking about drug abuse here. Addiction is not always to a substance, it can even be to a person or animal. Some call it affection but to me whenever I don’t listen to my rational mind- it’s an addiction.

Although, addictions are not always bad. They can be for good even. Some addictions like the ones to a person or animal can help you get better. These addictions can keep you away from the harmful addictions. They can help you live the moment.

So in my view, addictions can be good. You just need to choose your addictions wisely.

Consistency vs hardwork (micro-blog)

These are the 2 ways of achieving any goal. Either you consistently work on something to get better at it or you try and slog your ass off just when there’s a need.

Let’s take an example to understand this-

If a student studies an hour a day consistently then at the day before the examination, he’ll not have to put in the hardwork. While another student has a different way of doing it-he enjoys life and studies the day before the exam and still manages to do well. The second kind may even barter his sleep to study on the last few days.

I was always the second kind.

But now I’m slowly trying to move towards the first kind. Why? Because the 2nd kind doesn’t work as good in the real world as it did in school.

Like if I ask you to write a long blog post today. Will you be able to? It will be hell difficult for a person who isn’t a consistent blogger. You sure will Google the heck out of-how to write a good blog post but at the end of it,your blog will always seem inferior to a consistent blogger.

This is the sole reason why I write atleast 1 blog everyday

Hardwork can be offset by consistency

Are you consistent in your competency?

The state of infinity (micro-blog)

Ok so right now, at the time I’m writing this- I’m in a state of infinity.

State of infinity for me is when I have unlimited confidence, no fear of failure, no insecurity, zero doubts on myself. I really like being in this state.

I can try out anything that you say in this state. In this state I feel that noone is over me. I’m in total control. My life will go the way I want it to.

In this state I can kill you with my body language, words will be too much.

This state of infinity is what I leverage to do things that I’m most scared of. I throw myself in my discomfort zone when in this state.

This feeling is just beyond words, why am I wasting time trying to put it to words..

Is owning a car sensible? (Micro-blog)

In the age of uber and ola, is it really sensible to own a car.

Firstly,to own a car one should know how to drive a car, so you pay for learning how to drive. Then you spend lakhs upfront on buying a car then you need to find a parking space for it then you need to spend on insuring the car then on mantainance.

Also isn’t it better to sit on the back seat and work on your laptop than to honk while sitting on the driving seat. A cab is so much more productive and efficient.

If your cab gets stuck in a traffic jam, you can simply walk out of the cab and leave. Can you do this with your own car?

If you commute using a cab, you never have to pay for parking and neither do you have to spend hours looking for a parking space.

A personal car is just a liability. It depreciates with time.

Owning a car has never been a more ridiculous idea than it is now.

I think you have no option but to agree with all the logic I just gave against owning a car.

But are you willing to sell off your car.

If not, why?

“I don’t have time” (micro-blog)

How often do you say this phrase? Quite often, right? This one phrase has so much meaning into it.

We all hear this line from so many people everyday but did we ever take time to analyse what the other person is trying to say.

I gave it a serious thought and found out what they actually mean when they use this phrase.

They are trying to tell you that it’s not a priority.

Who isn’t busy these days, everyone is. But by using this line you are essentially trying to say that it’s not that important to you. “I don’t have time” is just a decorated way of saying “you are not worth my time”.

So imagine our PM wants to meet you. Will you say I don’t have time. Probably not, as this is worthy enough of being your priority.

I’m not saying that it’s bad to use this phrase. It’s good to take care of your priorities.

Just doing this micro blog so that the next time someone tells you “I don’t have time”. You immediately get to know that it’s not important enough to them.

The lack of ideas (micro-blog)

At the time of writing this I was searching for a good idea/topic to write on but I found none. So I thought why not make this “lack of ideas”, the topic of my micro blog.

This brings us to the question- Is emptiness truly empty? Like you can say that a glass is empty but there are people who can write books on what’s inside an empty glass. I mean the glass obviously has air in it but there are people who can really dwell into emptiness and take out what they want.

I constantly suffer from a lack of ideas for my micro blogs but this time I thought this lack of ideas is worthy of being documented. This lack of ideas is more dear to me than any idea. This comes back to me over and over and over again. It loves me more than any idea. So I decided to show some love back and dedicate this micro blog to the lack of ideas.

Congratulations you have just finished reading something which had no idea.

But is “lack of ideas” not worthy enough of being put to words?

Right or wrong (micro-blog)

I find this really interesting. What is right and what is wrong?

We always tend to believe that what we think to be right is right. What we think is based on what we know. So, can we say that a person who knows more than us is more right than us because he has more knowledge to back his judgement.

Another thing I’ve observed is- what the majority believes to be right is right. This is followed even in democracy. But is the majority always right? Remember the last US elections. I think you got your answer.

Or there is a third scenario where none of us know-what is right and what is wrong. This keeps us in a state of debate and argument.

I prefer to believe in the third scenario as it helps avoid creation of any blind spots and facilitates meaningful conversations.

Like I believe this micro blog is right. So tell me if you think it’s wrong or has some blindspots.

Let’s be in the third scenario.

Ask for what you want (micro blog)

How often do you want something and you take the courage to ask for it?

In reality, we rarely ask for what we want.

We just keep wishing that one day that thing will come to us on it’s ownself but this rarely happens.

Today, when there are so many wants all around-it’s extremely important to ask for what you wish for.

This has emmense power. People are so willing to give, it’s just about making them know that you need something.

India’s last to last international football game was seen by a mere 2,300 people in the ground. Then, the captain of Indian football team made an open appeal for everyone to support and guess what- the Indian team was greeted with a jam packed stadium in its game on June 4. Not only this, the tickets for the next 2 matches are also sold out.

You see the power of asking. Imagine had the captain not made such an appeal, would this still be possible. It is extremely important to let the other party know what you want.

This works in every domain- whether you are a student telling your teacher what way you like to be taught or you are a businessman telling your partner what you expect out of the deal or you are in a relationship telling your partner how you like to be treated.

It’s of no use to be secretly greedy, go out and tell people what you want and why you want.

There is so much noise in this world, the loudest in staking claim is often the person who wins the game.
