What is entrepreneurship? (micro blog)
A lot of my friends ask me this. What is it like to be an entrepreneur? Is it similar to being a businessman?
No an entrepreneur is different from a businessman. Although both carry out business operations but entrepreneurship has problem solving and innovation at its core. While a person carrying out traditional business is businessman. There isn’t any hardcore difference between the 2 and many use these terms interchangeably.
Now coming on to, what is it like to be an entrepreneur?
With so many startups coming up from Flipkart to Paytm. The craze around entrepreneurship in India is at its peak. Everyone wants to take a plunge at entrepreneurship. Being an entrepreneur is the new cool.
But it seems cool only from outside. It is hell difficult in practice. If you are an entrepreneur then:
1. First, you’ve to decide what you’ve to do (unlike a job where your boss tells you what to do)
2. Then you have to do what you planned to do with full conviction (even though the chances of failure are high)
3. There’s noone holding you accountable but yourself (noone will curse you for not doing good. You’ll have to abuse yourself)
4. You have to set your own deadlines
5. No security of month end cheque (unlike a job)
So considering all the above points and many more. Entrepreneurship is one of the most difficult professions one can choose.
Entrepreneurship is not for everyone. You need a certain level of mental and emotional toughness to be an entrepreneur.
For an entrepreneur, failure is the only constant. Rest everything varies.
