Nationalism
A topic I had long being thinking to write on. Nationalism is the sense of pride you HAVE in belonging to a nation. But the problem is that the wrong and popular definition is the pride you SHOW in belonging to a nation.
This is the reason why standing up for national anthem feels so much like a chore. Atleast to me it does. I don’t actually want to stand but neither do I want those weird looks from people if I don’t. I mean c’mon, I bought the ticket to watch the movie and now the authorities want me to SHOW my respect for the nation before the movie starts.
How silly is it to label a citizen as anti national just on the fact that he/she didn’t stand for the anthem. Why do I have to give the proof of my love for my country in my own country?
I want to humbly request the authorities to stop checking for nationalism in the citizens. Because love can’t be said or proved but felt. Don’t ruin this feeling of my love for the nation by trying to force love into me.
I can die for this country. But I should never have to say that. The reason I said that was because you wanted a proof to my nationalism.
But I’m saying this for the last time- I love this country and don’t need to give it’s proof to anyone.
True love is when the 2 parties know that the other party loves you. Asking for constant proof means lack of trust. Lack of trust kills love.
My nation is too amazing to be insecure about being loved back.
The authorities need to understand that it’s a mighty 7th largest country by area and not a possessive girlfriend.
