How to hold myself accountable? (micro blog)

This is a very sought after question. Who doesn’t want to know the art of holding ones ownself accountable.

But learning to do this is actually very difficult. We are programmed to perform as per given instructions. First from parents then school/college teachers then office bosses. These are the people who hold us accountable all the time.

Didn’t do your homework, “keep standing” is what your teacher says. Didn’t score good in exams, “look at Sharma ji ka ladka” is what your parents say. Didn’t achieve your monthly job target, “beep beep beep” is what your boss says.

Never ever did anyone teach us to hold ourselves accountable. But nevermind, I got a few tips from Google. Here they are:

1. Write down your goals and cross them off as they get completed.

2. Give yourself a treat when you achieve a significant target.

3. Feel guilty when you don’t complete a task on time.

These are the 3 main tips I could dig out of Google. They seem quite simple but are hell difficult in practice.

I’m myself not very good at holding myself accountable but I try my best.

They trained me all my life to be accountable to someone else and now I realise that being accountable to myself is the ultimate thing.
