Why is farming bad?
Agriculture revolution, as we know it, wasn’t as rosy and good for us. The only benefit it had was to help humans produce in abundance which could help feed a bigger population.
The downsides of farming heavily outweigh the only upside. Before the agricultural revolution, we we’re hunters and gatherers, we hunted and gathered a wide variety of plants and animals to feed ourselves. This ensured we got all vitamins and in adequate amount.
Today we survive on staples like wheat and bread which are devoid of many important nutrients. Another big disadvantage of agricultural revolution was that we started over relying on 1 or 2 crops for our food, if the crop fails then we are in for a famine.
In hunter gatherer society, we never relied so heavily on 1 or 2 crops because we kept moving to find different things to eat. This brings us to third disadvantage, farming tied humans down. Now, we had to stay nearby to the field and protect it from any insects and rodents.
In older times, we humans never settled in wooden and mud boxes (houses), we kept moving and discovering the world. Only staying at one place for a short period of time.
Now you must be thinking then why did humans shift to farming from hunting?
Because it is now that we can see and analyse how bad it was for humans. At that time this shift seemed like progress to humans. While actually it was a step in the wrong direction.
