Existentialism

A lot people I meet tell me that they are going through existentialism. What this means is they are unsure of what is their role on this planet. They simply don’t know why do they exist, hence the term existentialism.

It feels like a modern epidemic. Earlier people didn’t suffer from existentialism. Even if they did they would not know that such a thing exists. But the real question to ask here is- why do such questions pop in their head?

The reason is lack of a higher than self purpose in life. The people who usually suffer from this are people who always kept following what everyone else is doing without giving much thought to what is their uniqueness. What is it that separates him/her from all others? What is it that moves them to the core?

All these questions are something they never thought about and now as a result they start questioning their own existence.

But he to overcome/not fall for existentialism?

This is easier than it seems. Ask yourself what is your higher purpose in life. What can you work your whole life for. Let this thing be over ambitious, something that is very difficult to achieve. Something that deserves your time and energy. For example, if female oppression moves you then your higher purpose in life can be to get women their basic rights and protect women against any unfair treatment.

When you have this kind of a purpose in life which not only involves your own good but well being of so many more is impacted. That is when you would never question your existence.

You exist for a reason. A reason that is bigger than you. Find that reason because that’s the reason why you exist.
